ARE MUSLIMS JUST FOR RAMADAN?

In the Name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. [All] praise is [due] to Allah, Lord of the worlds .

When Ramadan is fast approaching, begins and is being observed in every knack and crannies of nations, you hear people saying different things about the month, the likes of: “Ramadan is coming: This is my Ramadan resolution; Ramadan fast approaching and I want do this; I want to do that; my Ramadan do’s and don’ts; why?”

This is not to say it’s bad to have a plan. But the question is,

Do they feel Ramadan is the only month out of the 12months in the world you can worship and do more rewarding acts of worship etc.?
But that shouldn’t be the mindset.

The month of Ramadan should be the same as Shaban, Shawaal and others. Though more of worship should be channeled in Ramadan because of the manifold rewards.

Abu Jabir Abdullah (penabdul) in his Friday sermon titled “welcoming Ramadan” said & I quote

“As the bell of Ramadan rings, the common slogan on the lips of every Muslim or at most, the average Muslim is “My Ramadan resolution is going to be: No movies, no backbiting, no clubbing, no zina, no music; and more Qu’ranic recitation, modesty in dressing, love for the poor, feeding the needy, less argument, more tolerance, more patience, a time for repentance and of course the almighty re-stocking of stores for Ramadan special meals. But the innocent question here is;

ARE MUSLIMS JUST FOR RAMADAN?”

The Mother of believers, Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: “The deeds most beloved by Allah (are those) done regularly, even if they are small.” (Bukhari, Muslim).

Hence, Excellence lies in him who fears Allah pre, during and post Ramadan.

In all our daily life, the aforementioned Ramadan resolutions are supposed to be applicable. The noble book for mankind was revealed in this month, which shows clear proof of Ibadahs and other acts of worship etc.

Allah says: “…The month of Ramadan [is that] in which was revealed the Qur’an, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion…….”(Q2:185)

Therefore the holy Qur’an was revealed in this blessed month, but the teachings of/from the holy book is to be emulated all year. Because it’s a guide for all our stay in this world.
So why is it, that its only Ramadan we do all this?

When it’s a month already decreed for fasting as it was done to generations before you. Allah says: … “O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous.” (Q 2:183)

… “[Fasting for] a limited number of days. So whoever among you is ill or on a journey [during them] – then an equal number of days [are to be made up]. And upon those who are able [to fast, but with hardship] – a ransom [as substitute] of feeding a poor person [each day]. And whoever volunteers excess – it is better for him. But to fast is best for you, if you only knew.” (Q 2:184)

Meanwhile as we all know ,Ramadan is the month whereby the Shaitan is imprisoned and chained from the world, this gives us free access to endless blessings and rewards; more enthusiastic to concentrate; do more acts of Ibadah; seek forgiveness; increase in supplications to our RABB, give out charity, and etc., So as Muslims, we are supposed to take full hold of the season and do even more Ibadah than expected.
Most importantly we should make a very good opportunity of sighting the most precious and better nights among nights. (The night of majesty). We pray that the night didn’t pass us by, ALLAH says:
“…The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months” (Q 97:3)

Do not limit acts of Ibaadah to just the month of Ramadan. But try to be consistent throughout the other months. Alhamdulillah, You developed a new habit within this twenty nine or thirty days.Do not be heedless or reckless, but hold on to Allah.

May ALLAH continue to make us pious throughout the year. Aameen
